Introduction

As you learned in the previous Workshop module (Intellectual Property 101), there are various types of intellectual property and numerous benefits offered by the University's policy on intellectual property. The purpose of this module is to give you guidance in working with intellectual property at the University.

During this module, you will consider questions such as:

• What considerations should you keep in mind when you collaborate with faculty and other individuals, both inside and outside the University of Minnesota?
• How should you handle trade secrets?
• What issues arise when you publish and use intellectual property on the Internet?

This module will take 15 - 20 minutes to complete.

Remember, the Intellectual Property web site contains references and links to multiple resources you can consult for guidance in working with intellectual property.
