Record Retention
Proper record keeping is essential for all aspects of a research project. Fiscal records are no exception. These will include financial, personnel, and effort certification records. Fiscal records must be retained for 6 years after the final financial report is submitted.
- PI maintains records including research notes, lab books, correspondence, reference notes, and progress/technical reports.
- Department keeps all the financial records and supporting documentation.
- SPA retains the proposal, award documents, and final report.
- SFR retains the financial reports, copies of invoices, and final financial report sent to sponsor.
Research data management is detailed in an online workshop.
