If you are a new faculty member...

you have twelve (12) months from the date of your initial appointment to complete instruction in the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR).

If you are a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow...

and the recipient of a grant or a fellowship, instruction in the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) is required to serve as a principal investigator. However, the requirements do not need to be completed prior to the receipt of funding, but during the grant or fellowship.
