Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Part 1

RCR Part 1 is only available in person. For information about the schedule, please see the course schedule and registration page.

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Part 2

RCR Part 2 is four online workshops. All 4 must be completed. These workshops can be completed in any order. RCR part 2 can be completed before RCR part 1:

Note: completion of this workshop also satisfies training requirement for Administrative Policy: Individual-Conflicts-of-Interest on a one-time basis.

* Research Data Management
Choose the version appropriate for your research design:
Quantitative - www.research.umn.edu/datamgtq1/index.htm
OR
Qualitative - www.research.umn.edu/datamgtq2/index.htm

Required software for all online workshops:

  • One of the following browsers: Internet Explorer v6.0 or higher,
    Mozilla Firefox v1.5 or higher, or
    Safari v2.0 or higher
  • Macromedia Flash Player v8.0 or higher
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader v6.0 or higher

These four topics can be completed in any order. Your training record will not show that you have completed the RCR Part 2 requirement, however, until all topics have been completed.

Please be advised, once you update your record, it takes 48 hours to process through data warehouse and EGMS.

Additional Courses

Additional courses may be required for PI eligibility or to work on a project. Examples include protecting human or animal research subjects, working with hazardous materials, or working with health records. Many of these courses are available online. For more information, please see our additional courses page.

RCR Continuing Education

For more information about the RCR continuing education requirement, please see our continuing education page. Completion of the online RCR part 2 workshops does not satisfy the RCR continuing education requirement.
